DIY: leather chevron necklace

Today we would like to share an amazing and simple DIY lesson by Abi Porter who shows her original approach to self-made things in her every-day life. We suggest our readers to try making one for yourself or to give to a friend as a Christmas gift—or both!

You’ll need:

Scrap leather

Necklace chain—I used a 24″ chain

Metal rings (found next to necklace chain at a craft store)

Wall tack

Pen

Scissors

and your chevron shape pattern

Draw your chevron shape onto a piece of card stock and use that as your pattern piece. Place your pattern piece on the backside of the leather scraps and trace three different pieces.

Cut out your three chevron shapes

Use the tack to make holes where you’ll need to attach the metal rings.

The top and middle one will have four holes (as shown) and the bottom one will have just two.

Open the metal rings and attach to the leather pieces, connecting them all

It should look like this when all the rings are in place!

Attach your chain to the top metal ring, on each side!

The leather can stretch and get a little wonky so straighten the pieces out as much as you can.

And you’re done! Amazingly simple!
