Kristína Fečková is a young talented fashion designer from Slovakia, whose vision is to create original and fresh fashion for young and confident women. Kristína studies art and design and in the meanwhile she works in the fashion design industry for more than 7 years. We met with Kristína at Prague Fashion Night 2014 Pop-up store and found her works very cool and creative. Of course we got interested in her and asked for an interview to let the world know about the young gifted designer. Here’s her short story!
Why did you decide to become a fashion designer?
I’ve dreamt about it since my childhood. I want to make people and world nicer and happier.
What is your favorite part about being a fashion designer?
Of course I like the whole process of creation, but the best feeling is when a client thanks you and you can see that he/she is satisfied.
Do you dream to create haute couture clothes and accessories?
Sometimes yes – I’ve been dreaming about it, and from time to time I’ve tried it but finally it didn’t bring the effect I’ve expected. Sometimes even hundreds of hours of manual work do not appear to be fruitful. I need to mature further as a designer, I still have time.
What were your inspirations for the designs you created?
All the designs that I’ve created were theoretically based, but a shop full of cloth, vision of the model, and enthusiasm are often inspirations for me.
How do you usually select the materials for your design works?
I choose them according to what they will be used for. I sew mostly wearable clothes, so I choose materials according to pleasantness to the touch, of course colours and patterns and it’s also important that the final model is easy to maintain.
Does fame attract you?
Success in the field of my specialisation attracts me…:) The fame is only the icing on the cake, I don’t need it to be happy.
Describe yourself in 3 words
Empathic, adaptable, creative
What do you think of eco-fashion?
Nothing wrong, actually only good things. Why not, I just still haven’t explored this field.
Did you cooperate with other designers or participate in any creative projects?
No, I’ve never cooperated with other designers, but right now I collaborate with a company on proposal of prints for interiors.
What are your plans for the future?
The most important thing for me is to do things I like, I want to be happy in both my professional and personal life. I certainly don´t want to sacrifice my family for career or vice versa. Everything has its limits and I think that staying happy and balanced is the base.
